Olympic Delivery Authority: case studies

Clarify the commissioning process for choosing artworks for the Olympic Park, bringing out key messages and lessons learned.

Fundraising
The first hurdle was to raise the money for the first Inside/Out project, without knowing what shape the final art work would take.  The ODA secured LDA funding by:
  • writing a clear and detailed brief for funders and stakeholders, which showcased successful, artist-led community engagement projects and their impact on local communities;
  • identifying  shared priorities and partnership opportunities between the ODA and LDA for developing this type of work.  For example, the Inside/Out project was positioned as part of the LDA’s Olympic Cultural Legacy programme – in line with its remit to deliver programmes that provided more value for money, on a greater scale, than would be possible for the LDA to deliver on its own.
This success led to others. On the basis of LDA support, and the ODA’s aims and objectives, the Arts Council contributed a further £25,000.
